'sunshine daydream' by mary phillips |
As a part of an ongoing, interactive public-art display in the Historic Downtown Mansfield area, a second piano was unveiled this morning at Steven's Garden Grill. "The Mansfield 88 Piano Project" pairs donors of used pianos with local artists to create unique works of art that are being placed in the Historic Main Street area of town. Visitors are encouraged to both enjoy the instruments as works of art as well as play them.
The piano that arrived at Steven's Garden Grill early this morning was generously donated by LeAnn and Eric Peterson and was painted by Mary Phillips of the Forgotten Works Garden Gallery. It features a bold and bright "Main Street" theme, with accurately placed buildings along the bottom which are representational of the Historic Mansfield businesses. Growing from the landscape - toward a dreamy, sunny sky - is a series of mixed-media pop flowers. The leaves from the flowers are cut and collaged onto the piece from sheet music Mary found in the piano's bench.
We hope everyone in town will venture to this rapidly emerging arts area to check out the Mansfield 88!
